Why Did I Print That Worksheet

Why Did I Print That Worksheet?

I love worksheets. I love textbooks, too. I’ve carried those preferences with me into my homeschooling and it has worked well for my oldest. She’s like me. Worksheets give us a purpose, direction, a sense of accomplishment when they’re finished. They appeal to our linear minds.

My second oldest has challenged all of that. Her little brain just runs differently. Worksheets are boring. They’re dry and uninteresting. Her eyes glaze over and she asks, “are we done yet?” That’s not what I want for her education. So I push myself to find other ways to teach and to learn. And yet I still find myself searching Google for that perfect worksheet to go with tomorrow’s lesson.

Do you have children with learning styles that are different from each other? From you?
How do you overcome the differences?
